This semester class is designed to expose junior high students to practical applications of technology as tools for success in their school experience and beyond.

  • Emailed Weekly Individual Progress Reports
  • Keyboarding Practice using online resources
  • Written summaries of virtual field trips
Spreadsheet
  • Basic to advanced use of spreadsheets to calculate data
(i.e.- TV Viewing Habits, Is It Worth It?, Prescott's Cafe)
Desktop Publishing
  • Design and production of publications for real-world events
Peripherals
  • Use of digital imaging for web design, desktop publishing, and multimedia projects
(i.e.-Scanning Real Objects, SGS Web Site, Interdisciplinary Projects, iMovie projects, Claymation)
Web Design
  • Using HTML code to modify pages
  • Design web page as portfolio of semester projects
Multimedia/Simulations
  • Project design of relevant topics using multimedia software for use in subjects across the curriculum
(i.e.-Interdisciplinary project "American Entrepreneurs" in conjunction with History class)
  • Simulations and programming topics
(i.e.-Concert Tour, Building a Home of Your Own, Roller Coaster Design, Animation Studio, Scratch)
Internet Research Skills and Ethics
  • Locating information for projects using "smart" web searching 
(i.e.-Boolean Connectors; Evaluating Internet Sources; Internet Plagiarism)
  • Internet Safety and Ethics on cell phones, IM, chat rooms, email (I-Safe America curriculum)
  • Independent online research projects (Language, Social Studies, Science)
  • Online electronic student testing to evaluate course material mastery
  • Online assignment and classwork postings
