Computer Literacy Curriculum

This semester class is designed to expose junior high students to practical applications of technology as tools for success in their school experience and beyond.

Word Processing
  • Procedure writing throughout the course as a means to master new technologies through step-by-step processes
Spreadsheet
  • Basic to advanced use of spreadsheets to calculate data
Desktop Publishing
  • Design and production of publications for real-world events
Peripherals
  • Use of digital imaging for web design, desktop publishing, and multimedia projects
Web Design
  • Basic introduction to creating HTML code for web pages
  • Design web page as portfolio of semester work
Multimedia/Simulations
  • Project design of relevant topics using multimedia software for use in subjects across the curriculum
Internet Research Skills and Ethics
  • Locating information for projects using "smart" web searching 
(i.e.-Boolean Connectors; Ten Cs for Evaluating Internet Sources; Internet Plagiarism)
  • Internet Safety on IM, chat rooms, email (I-Safe America curriculum, NetSmartz) 
  • Online electronic student testing to evaluate course material mastery
  • Online assignment and classwork postings
